July 24, 2018, Abu Dhabi, UAE – Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, has been designated as a certification body for the Emirates Conformity Assessment System (ECAS). ECAS is a UAE national product certification program introduced by ESMA, the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology, for quality assessment, control and certification.
As a “Notified Body” for ESMA, Intertek is now authorised to issue ECAS Certificates and the Emirates Quality Mark (EQM) for imported products on behalf of ESMA. These certifications include electrical and beauty products such as Low Voltage Equipment (LVE), Energy Efficiency Standards Labelling (EESL), lighting regulation, regulation for Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), equipment used in explosive atmospheres, cosmetics, perfumery and personal care products, raw material quality assurance, and toxicology, among others.
Intertek already offers similar services to Low Voltage Electrical Products and Appliances imported or sold in {Persian} Gulf member states, including the UAE, for compliance with the Gulf Mark (G Mark) requirements issued by the Gulf Standardisation Organisation (GSO).
Intertek established its certification body in Dubai to offer local, regional and global service support to customers. In order to achieve this, Intertek underwent the necessary ISO / IEC 17065:2012 standard accreditation and notification process with ESMA, which issues technical regulations for these sectors.
More than two million certificates of conformity and test reports have been issued to date by Intertek worldwide. Its regional and international teams have undertaken assessments of more products over a longer period of time than any other organisation.
