In conjunction with consideration of the CFT Bill, Dr. A. Kadkhodaei, the speaker of the Guardian Council of IR Iran, said the bill was reviewed at numerous frequent meetings of the Guardian Council with the presence of all members.
Guardian Council’s views on the bill include violations of the law, unconstitutional and ambiguities announced in a letter to the Islamic Consultative Assembly.
The deputy chairman of the Guardian Council continued, “The council’s objections to the CFT bill are about 20 items. At the same time as reviewing the parliamentary resolution on the CFT bill, the Expediency Council also reviewed the bill and announced it. We have submitted to the Islamic Consultative Assembly a letter to the Islamic Expediency Council about the CFT bill, which includes non-compliance with the general policies of IRI.
At the end, the spokesman for the Guardian Council said:”It doubts that the announcement of the problems for approval of the CFT bill by the Council, means as its rejection, rather it is only the opinion of the Guardian Council, and if the Parliament insists on its former approval of the bill, then the final assignment is referred to the Expediency Council.
In regards with the GC spokesman comments, the representative of the people of Shiraz says that now and with regard to the stipulation of Article 94 of the Constitution regarding the resolutions of the parliament, the parliament and the government are obliged to implement the constitution. Rassa’i also states, according to Article 90 of the Constitution, that since 24 days is passed from the adoption of the CFT by the Parliament which is over the deadline of the GC Council so the bill is now legally operational, though the Guardian Council can ask for a deadline of 10 days more.
