The upward trend in prices for polymeric materials began on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018. The Petrochemical Downstream Industries Development Office (PDID) announced the basic prices of polymers and other petrochemical materials for a week to Dec. 23rd, 2018. The total number of deals at the IME hall was only 6 times more than last week’s of 156 times.

According to the Plastics Industry Magazine’s report, unlike last week’s decline in the US$ exchange value, causing more petrochemicals to fall in the downtrend, the official value of US$ rose by 4% reaching to Rials 90,615 this week. Comparing to the previous week, the value roe by Rls. 3,500, which caused the volatility of prices of polymers and chemicals at the international level, which is another factor in the discovery of basic prices, could not play a role, and especially all the polymer materials, faced with the rise in prices.
The only difference was that the polymer materials, with lower or stable prices at the international level last week, experienced less growth in their base prices than other internationally priced polymer materials.
Meanwhile, HIPS with a growth rate of 8.1% in comparison to its last week’s base price, recorded the highest increase among other polymers. This material sold at Rls. 117,424/Kg. which was Rls. 8,700 more than it last week’s official price.
After this commodity, GPPS 1540 with a 7.4% increase in price was in the second place in the incremental trend of base prices. The official price of this material also increased by more than Rls. 7,500/Kg.and sold for more than Rls. 11,000. The PVC group, which experienced only 0.3% price rise in the last week’s price announcement, were the third group of materials facing with the highest base prices.
This week the PVC group of materials were up by 5.8% more than last week. The price range of different kinds of PVC grades this week ranged between Rls. 74,000 to 80,000.
Other commodities also increased by 2-4% at their base prices, and the entire market was quite exponential.
The lowest price increases were made with textile PP and injection type PP, respectively, by 1.9% -2.1%, respectively, compared to the previous week.
