Today Jan. 20th 2019, the PDID Office of NPC petrochemical announced the base prices of polymer materials and other chemicals as per its weekly plan.These prices, surprisingly and contrary to the imagination of many experts, all had a downward trend.

According to PIMI analysts, despite the Rls. 1,100 growth in the exchange value of US$ for base calculations of the prices and irrespective of the globally price growth of some materials like EPS, GPS, PP, ABS and some other materials, this week’s announced base prices of polymer materials by PDID office were all descending except for the bottle grade of PET.
With these prices, it seems that the PDID office has not remained loyal to its conventional rules and methodology and after the sanctions’ seriousness is acting more politically than economically. If this imagination could be true, it might be due to the decision of the PDID team in order to breakdown the recession in the polymer market and to keep the growth trend of the trade volumes of materials in the market as like as last week.
Last week the trade volume of commodities was affected by some factors like decreasing of base prices, the collapse of the shadow of the security control of the, the purging of the free market warehouses from commodities, and so the trade volume increased by more than 40%. after four-weeks of stagnation in this market. Now let’s have a look at the base prices of this week.
PET bottle grade; the only incremental material
In the upward trend in prices, various grades of PET bottles rose at a range of 3.8 to 4.1% compared to the last week’s base prices. Within this range, the cheapest base price was announced for the 785 grade of PET, which with Rls. 4,110 of increase reached to Rls. 104,758/ kg. The highest base price in the PET bottle grades belonged to the grae 821, which was priced at Rls. 110,891 with an increase of Rls. 4,100/Kg. Interestingly, the highest percentage of increase in PET bottle grades recorded for its cheapest grade (BG 785) and the lowest percentage of growth in prices was recorded for the most expensive grade of PET (BG 821).
Downturn side of the market
In the downturn of the market, the largest decline was in the PVC group , which was 2.8% lower than last week’s price decline. It was only the S-65, which reached to Rls. 96,896, with 2.9% drop in prices.
Eventually, according to experts, expanding polystyrene prices were not only incremental, but also among the declines, they had the second highest drop in prices.. EPS 200, 300 and 400 with 2% lower than their base price last week, and after the group of PVC, ranked in the second place of the lowest base prices
