Science and technology of the robotics and artificial intelligence which are the pioneers of the mankind future, have always been interesting for academic societies and scientists. The Amirkabir University of Technology with the purpose of progressing to achieve this important goal will hold the 8th Amirkabir Robotic and Artificial Intelligence Competitions (FIRA IRAN open Competitions 2019) with the cooperation of the International Federation of Robot Sports Association (FIRA) and Iranian FIRA National Committee (IFNC) on Mar. 1st to Mar. 4th 2019 in Tehran International Fairground.
FIRA Cup, which is held annually in one of the world’s countries by the FIRA World Federation, provides an area for challenging the younger generation and researchers in the field of autonomous moving robots. It is hoped that the FIRA Cup tournament, which took place since 1996, as well as its free competition which is held in one of the member states of the Federation, would create a desire for robotics among young people.
Through these matches, FIRA hopes to help young people better understand the scientific concepts and technology evolution. FIRA believes that even parts of these interests will increase the scientific and engineering skills that ultimately lead to research that serves humans in various ways.
The new FIRA organization is broken up into four divisions:
- FIRA Sports: autonomous robots competing in the sport and similar events
- FIRA Youth: a new division for junior and high school students
- FIRA Challeng: more complex events such as search and rescue that can often only be solved with teleoperation
- FIRA Air: a new competition for autonomous drones
