Smart Glass is a laminated glass product consisting of a Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) film, which is sandwiched between two layers of glass and two layers of conductive interlayers. The PDLC film is what allows you to change the visual appearance of the glass from opaque to transparent on command (or dim anywhere in between). When the electricity is applied to the film through wiring, liquid crystals align and the window instantly becomes transparent. When the power is turned off, liquid crystals return to their normal scattered positions, therefore, rendering the glass opaque. (Image below shows how it works?)
Smart Glass also offers thermal, solar and sound insulation benefits, helping to keep rooms cool, comfortable and quiet. It reduces the need for fiddly and awkward use of blinds or curtains. It can be used in partition screens, windows, roof-lights and doors, security and teller screens, and even serve as an excellent HD projection screen.
Now, an American company is one of the leaders of producing such glasses.
The innovative “New Era Curtains” utilize advanced Liquid Crystal Film technology, enabling seamless control over light & privacy. By applying an electric current through a switch or a smartphone app, the curtains swiftly transition between transparent & opaque states. transformation is achieved by precisely modulating the alignment of liquid crystals within the integrated film, providing both elegance & functionality to your space.Crafted from a specialized fabric, these curtains incorporate a stratum of Liquid Crystal Film. liquid crystals possess a distinctive attribute: they realign in response to an electric field. When an electric current courses through curtains, liquid crystals in film adjust their configuration. This dynamic adjustment governs the passage of light, oscillating between transparency and diffusion, affording precise control over transparency levels.
